STELLA Stella Mary Pearce Henry's daughter, Stella Mary, was born in 1901. She went into the theatre, in time becoming a theatre designer. After a career in haute couture she became an academic and worked at the National Gallery dating pictures by the style of the clothes. She set up the History of Dress department at the Courtauld Institute. She married Eric Newton an art critic. Later she was awarded the OBE. Stella
Mary Newton OBE died in 2001 aged 100. |
